Are you looking for amazing ways to celebrate your Christmas Pregnancy?

You are not alone!

I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my first during the Christmas holidays.

I have a holiday bucket list full of fun and unique ways to enjoy being pregnant at Christmastime to share.

The best part is many of them are activities you can do from home.

So if the weather outside is frightful or if you’re not feeling delightful, stay home and enjoy the holiday season snuggled up on your couch.

Christmas Pregnancy: 10 Amazing Ways To Celebrate The Holidays:

1. Choose some cute and cozy Christmas pregnancy outfits.

I know it can be hard to feel cute when you are pregnant.

I was too sick to care for my first trimester and by the middle of my second trimester, I felt like I should have been on display at Sea World.

It was perfect timing too, right before Christmas. Thank goodness for long flannel cardigans, chunky knits, and leggings.

I was able also to find some comfy adorable Christmas pregnancy shirts on Etsy too.

Don’t forget Christmas Eve and Christmas Day outfits. The assortment of maternity wear for the holidays used to be limited but not anymore.

Just about anything you can imagine can be found online because of the innovative designs created by moms for moms.

If it is cold and snowy where you live, you’ll need a maternity coat and a good pair of boots!

2. Christmas pregnancy Announcements

The holiday season is an exciting time for Christmas pregnancy announcements.

There are so many creative and fun ideas for announcing your pregnancy at Christmas.

A Christmas tree farm is an epic location to create your Christmas pregnancy announcement.

3. Have a Christmas-themed maternity photoshoot

Christmas is a magical time to do a maternity photoshoot. Christmas photoshoots are so gorgeous.

Pregnancy photos that were taken during the Christmas season are no exception.

Find a photographer whose work you love and go for it!

Enjoy the beautiful winter snow, Christmas lights, and amazing maternity gowns.

4. Indulge in all the holiday foods (well mostly).

The holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day feels like a non-stop feeding frenzy. Cookies, pies, cakes, and candy are everywhere.

Being pregnant and eating for two means you can enjoy your cake and eat it too!

It is best to avoid the foods on that list, as they can cause food-borne illness.

Food-borne illnesses could be dangerous to you and your baby.

One food-borne infection, in particular, is Salmonella. Salmonella is a common bacterial infection that can cause a number of symptoms:

Being cautious with your holiday food choices is the best way to avoid any food-related sickness.

If you did not prepare a food item that is known to cause illness if not prepared properly, either avoid it or make sure to ask how it was prepared.

The illustration below includes some (not all) of the foods you will want to inquire about:

Let’s talk about Holiday drinks.

You know alcohol is off the menu, caffeine is rationed, but what about eggnog?

If you are an eggnog lover, you’ll want to make sure the egg is store-bought and pasteurized.

You can drink hot chocolate. Add whip cream and mini-marshmallows too!

The bottom line is you can enjoy and even indulge in most of the decadent holiday foods that make the season festive and fun!

5. Get a pregnancy Christmas ornament

What a sweet idea and keepsake! I never thought to get a pregnancy Christmas ornament, but now I wish I did.

You can find adorable pregnancy ornaments on Amazon and Etsy.

6. Visit a tree farm and find the perfect tree.

If you live in an area where there are Christmas tree farms, a great family tradition is to pick out your own tree.

If you do not live near a Christmas tree farm and cannot have a live tree, you can make a family event out of assembling an artificial tree.

Make sure you take lots of pictures and enjoy some hot cocoa.

If you live near a city, go see the Christmas tree and Christmas lights.

7. Make a special pregnancy Christmas Eve box for couples

A Christmas Eve box is a fun family tradition to start during your pregnancy.

Christmas Eve boxes developed from the tradition of opening gifts on Christmas Eve that is common in many countries around the world.

Growing up my father’s family opened gifts on Christmas Eve which was their family’s custom. My mom’s family opened gifts on Christmas Day.

We would go to my relative’s house on Christmas Eve for dinner and we would open gifts.

When I had my son we started the tradition of letting him open a gift on Christmas Eve before we headed out to our relative’s house.

A few years ago I read about the tradition of Christmas Eve boxes. It was perfect timing as we had moved across the country away from our families and Christmas wasn’t the same.

A pregnancy Christmas Eve box for couples could include:

Christmas eve boxes helped us feel more connected to our old traditions while helping us create a new one.

Our Christmas eve boxes for adults contain new pajamas, warm fuzzy socks, hot cocoa, lots of snacks, and a book.

  • Christmas PJs
  • Slippers/cozy socks
  • Throw blanket to get cozy under
  • Hot chocolate/mugs
  • Snacks!
  • Christmas movie list (printable) you can choose from with Netflix and Amazon prime Christmas movies.
  • Night Before Christmas Book

“One can never have enough socks,” said Dumbledore. “Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”

Harry Potter

It is a very sweet tradition to start during your pregnancy and it is one your family will love and cherish every Christmas Eve.

8. Get an Elf on the Shelf and have an adult 25 days until Christmas.

A fun way to celebrate your pregnancy the whole month of December is to get Elf on the Shelf and enjoy a laugh every day as you and your partner take turns getting your elf into mischief.

Elf on the Shelf is a cute family tradition to start during pregnancy.

Our elf does mischievous things like getting into the flour, doing 5 AM Yoga, and spreading junk food around.

2020 has been quite the year so far. If you are looking for a way to lighten the mood, Elf On The Shelf might be exactly what you need.

One thing for sure, you will never run out of ideas for your Elf and you might just be surprised how creative you can be.

If you do get stuck, just search online and you will have more ideas than you could possibly imagine!

Don’t forget even your Elf should wear a mask! A simple and fun way to remind people who come into your home that they need to wear a mask.

I found these Elf-size masks on Etsy when looking for Elf On The Shelf accessories for our Elf.

Make sure your Elf is properly quarantining when he arrives at your home! I love this idea, not to mention, it keeps him out of trouble.

9. Send Christmas cards to family and friends with sweet bump pics.

Sending family Christmas cards and including your baby bump has never been easier.

It is a great way to share and celebrate the holiday season with friends and family.

This is especially true as we look for ways to stay connected with family during the pandemic.

Christmas cards with photos are especially appreciated by family members who do not live close by and may not be able to celebrate the holiday or your Christmas pregnancy with you in person.

10. Get comfy on the couch and binge-watch Christmas movies as much as you want.

It’s perfectly OK to not feel like socializing and to say “No.” to the seasonal whirlwind of holiday parties, Christmas open houses, and holiday dinners with friends when you are pregnant.

Colds, flu, and Coronavirus all spread more easily indoors during the colder weather.

We tend to gather in more crowded spaces or have smaller more intimate gatherings, like dinner parties with friends or family.

Unfortunately, these events can sometimes put us at more risk of getting sick.

Especially, when we are pregnant.

Pregnancy causes our immune system to suppressed which is why pregnant women tend to get more colds.

We can prevent the flu with a vaccine.

It is generally safe for pregnant women to get the vaccine but talk to your provider about your specific health history.

The best things to do to avoid getting a cold, flu, or COVID-19 is to wear a mask when you go out, wash your hands with soap and water frequently, stay away from people who are sick, stay home on your comfy couch, and shop online as much as you can.

Conclusion:

We hope you have found a few ideas that will make your Christmas pregnancy a memorable one!

Remember that you can and should rest as much as you need to. Even during the holiday season.

The most important thing is that you and your baby stay healthy throughout the busy Christmas season and that you enjoy the holidays in the way that works best for you.
